From Doss dei Branchi to Monte Cornon, a wonderful spring hike in the Val di Fiemme awaits you!
The magic of winter and summer in Val di Fiemme is known and appreciated by all. Why not rediscover the magic of spring too? When the snow slowly starts to melt and the first shy vegetation appears after a long winter break. On sunny spring days, it is already possible to walk on the mountain paths, among the snow, the high-altitude meadows and the endless blue sky.
Olaf and I have decided to treat ourselves to a sunny early spring day and a hike with a thousand surprises: the path from Doss dei Branchi to Monte Cornon is full of beautiful and unexpected moments.
We set off with equipment but without snowshoes, because by now the time of the big snow cover is over and we can afford to travel light (or maybe not?).
You can save a little effort, because at this time the Pampeago lifts are still open. Just take the Agnello lift and follow the signs to Doss dei Branchi there.
The walks are very good, but in some places the winter has not yet receded and there is so much snow that we sink in almost a metre. An adventure with a thousand laughs!
On the way to Monte Cornon, the path is sometimes difficult because of the snow, but the effort is rewarded by the incredible view that opens up before our eyes.
We stop in a large sunny meadow to eat our picnic.
It's good to remember to bring everything you need for a picnic. There are bivouacs to stop at, but the first refreshment point is the Baita Caserina, which is at the end of the tour.
Breathtaking views, great silence and the perfect temperature.... simply magical! As if that wasn't enough, at this time of year you can admire the first vegetation that is starting to come back to life, and on the way back from the Cornon you walk through a forest of dwarf pines, a real wonder!
The last section of the route has a little bonus: Before the Baita Caserina, you come to the respirart park, a unique walk among the land art works of international artists. Here, nature and art meet in an unprecedented dialogue. Truly the icing on the cake of this unforgettable day!
