LE FORTAIE DI CARLO: vegan strauben from Trentino

Sie können im Garten sitzen, in das Grün des Val di Fiemme eintauchen und die veganen Trentiner Strauben (oder Fortaie in unserem Dialekt) essen, während Sie die Aussicht auf die umliegenden Berge genießen.


Strauben are undoubtedly one of the best and most popular sweet delicacies in Trentino - Alto Adige.

Our vegetable version was conceived by our collaborator Carlo who, with his characteristic genuineness, has developed a simple recipe for an extremely tasty dish that will delight both the little ones and the grown-ups!

You only need a few ingredients and a funnel for frying.




With a few simple steps you can bring a piece of Trentino into your home.

LE FORTAIE DI CARLO

PREP


200 g flour 0

250 ml soy milk

50 g sugar

1 pinch of salt

25 ml rum or amaretto

1 sachet vanillin

zest of 1 lemon

3 tablespoons olive oil or seed oil

1 tablespoon icing sugar

1 sachet yeast

For frying: Seed oil

For garnishing: Jam to taste and icing sugar

PROCESS

Add the milk and then the sifted flour, stirring.

Gradually add all the ingredients, stirring constantly.

Heat the oil in a pan.

When the oil is hot, take a funnel and plug the hole with your finger, now pour the batter into the funnel.

Place the funnel on the pan and as soon as you have removed your finger, start spreading the batter in a circular motion from the outside to the inside.

When the cake is golden brown, turn it over with two slotted spoons to brown the other side.

Once the other side is golden brown, remove the bunches and place them on a paper towel to dry off the excess oil.

Transfer to a serving platter and garnish the bunches with icing sugar and jam.

Enjoy with your hands, even better in company!
